As the owner and head chef of the premier full-service Mediterranean Catering Company for 20 years in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Chef Kamal has now launched Distinctively Mediterranean. This is a specialty website offering several of the ingredients that you may not find easily at your local supermarket. Offering quality and value, Chef Kamal has hand picked these items to make it convenient for you to stock your pantry.  In addition Chef Kamal offers premium spices,  kitchen supplies and unique gift ideas that you will enjoy sending to your family and friends - or even yourself!  Our mission is to provide you with a full line of high quality Mediterranean products. 

As a first generation American with strong ties to his parents' native Lebanon, Chef Kamal spent many summers visiting his family in the villages of Aley and Deir Koubel, a few miles outside of Beirut.  His appreciation of the foods and traditions of Lebanon developed into a professional career as a Lebanese chef.  Chef Kamal's Lebanese dishes were offered at events for Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan, Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Senators George Mitchell and Barbara Mikulski, and world famous celebrites such as Placido Domingo, Angelica Huston and Francis Ford Coppola.  Selwa "Lucky" Roosevelt, President Ronald Reagan's Chief of Protocol regularly called on Chef Kamal for both diplomatic events as well as for her private parties.  His Lebanese-inspired menus were offered at various Smithsonian Institution museums, the White House, and thousands of events in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.

In 2005, Chef Kamal relocated to Southern California where he worked exclusively on writing, preparing and testing his recipes in his new cookbook, Classic Lebanese Cuisine, 170 Fresh and Healthy Mediterranean Favorites.  Chef Kamal's Distinctively Mediterranean Online Shop offers high-quality specialty items  for your kitchen and home.
